Urban Ecology Center / Menomonee Valley

Milwaukee, WI

The Urban Ecology Center – Menomonee Valley is the 3rd location for the environmental education and community center. The building is a 6,500 square foot renovation/addition to an abandoned 1930’s era tavern in the Silver City neighborhood. The project exemplifies sustainable building practices from the use of salvaged materials to a passive-solar air intake system and geo-thermal sourced heating and cooling. Located next to the Valley Passage, this dynamic building anchors a 27-acre urban renewal project along the Menomonee River.

Completed in 2012.
